Diagonally arranged louvres
Diagonal louvres do two jobs at once. They brace the façade against seismic movement and they moderate solar gain. They are also frequently drawn and then deleted, because clients fear dark interiors and blocked sight lines.
We built the field at full scale before committing to it. The mock-up let us measure interior illuminance directly and correlate the readings against the daylight model, and it settled the question of external appearance in a way no render can.
